Malawi is currently experiencing one of the worst cholera outbreaks in years. The first case was registered on 2nd March, 2022 in Machinga District in southern Malawi. By 20th November, 2022 the outbreak had registered a total of 8,977 cases and claimed 274 deaths across 29 districts of Malawi.

In response, ActionAid Malawi with funding from International Humanitarian Action and Resilience Team (IHART) has bee working with local partners in impact Local Rights Programme of Khosolo and Rumphi to mitigate the devastating impact of the outbreak on the communities living in poverty
